ObisObis are made of heavy woven silk and are lined by either the same weave or a solid color silk. In between there is a heavy woven interfacing. Most of us women no longer wear the obi as an amazing tie around our kimono, but many creations have been made with these beautiful pieces. Some people use them to make table runners or place mats. They are used as wall decor, window valences, and decorative pillows. They have been sewn into the bodice of a dress or shirt and many purses have been made from them. My latest use of the obi was to make the mei tai baby carrier. Let your creativity run wild.
